Summary of April 8th Meade County Cooperative Government Work Session #3

Meade County Planning & Zoning and Meade County Fiscal Court met jointly at the Meade County Extension on April 8, 2026 from 6PM-8PM.

Discussions primarily centered around the working data center ordinance. The committee proposed that any future data centers in our county would have to be zoned Heavy Industrial. This would greatly limit where any potential data centers could be built in the future. At the next Cooperative Government Work Session (TBD), the committee will review the entire AI Data Center Ordinance as one piece.

The deadline for our county's new Comprehensive Plan to be approved by Fiscal Court is August 2026. Once the Comprehensive Plan is ready to be viewed, it will be posted online for public input before it is voted on by the Fiscal Court.

The committee also discussed updating our county's Signs & Outdoor Advertising Ordinance. No decisions were made. Members asked Planning & Zoning to review similar ordinances in neighboring counties and prepare some suggestions for the new ordinance to be reviewed and discussed at the next Cooperative Government Work Session (TBD.)
