The Meade County Fiscal Court held its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, May 12th at 7PM at the Meade County Court House.
The meeting followed the publicly released agenda with the majority of motions passing with unanimous consent. However, there were a few exceptions:
1) Mobile Vending Permit Resolution:
This resolution stated that all vendors wanting to set up at any of the Meade County Parks including Otter Creek, must register with the county and pay a flat rate of $50 per day. However, Magistrate Dix asked about non-profits and vendors who would be donating all proceeds to a charity. It was decided to table this resolution so that the wording could be adjusted to make an exception for non-profits and events raising money for charities.
2) Planning & Zoning Rezoning Requests:
There were seven(7) Second Readings and five (5) First Readings. Most rezoning requests passed with unanimous consent and no discussion, except:
2025R-095//Rezoning from R4 to B2//Defee//469 DE Brown Rd, Brandenburg, KY did have one neighbor raise concerns about trucks traveling on their road. After listening to these concerns, the fiscal court members voted unanimously to still approve this rezoning request. This was a second reading.
2026R-105//Rezoning from A2 to R1//Goodwin Properties LLC//1390 Payne Rd, Ekron, KY was remanded back to Planning & Zoning so additional evidence could be presented.
3) First Reading of Meade County Fiscal Court 2026-2027 Budget:
On April 27th, the Fiscal Court met for a Budget Workshop. At this meeting, the County Treasurer presented the draft 2026-2027 budget to the fiscal court. This allowed all magistrates approximately one week to review the draft budget before the first reading at the next Fiscal Court meeting on May 12th.
At the May 12th meeting, the 2026-2027 Fiscal Court Budget had its first reading. There was no discussion and the first reading was accepted unanimously.
Meade County's annual budget is almost 41 million dollars. If you would like to take a closer look at this budget, then click on the link below.
