IMPORTANT: Meade County Fiscal Court 2026-2027 Draft Budget

At the last Fiscal Court meeting, the 2026-2027 draft budget had its first reading. The second reading will be at the next fiscal court meeting on Tuesday, June 9th at 7PM at the court house.

If you have any questions or concerns about this draft budget, you need to reach out to your magistrate BEFORE the June 9th meeting where it will have its second reading and final vote.

*Note: The county treasurer and fiscal court made a decision NOT to post this draft budget on our local government's website, even after they were asked to by several Meade County constituents.

However, I submitted an open records request with the Judge Executive's office to get a copy for myself and to share with others. This draft budget is PUBLIC information and I believe should be easily accessed by any resident of Meade County. This is a prime example of the lack of transparency in our current local government.

If elected as your next 3rd District Magistrate, I will push to have all important public documents like this posted on our local government's website, giving residents of Meade County an opportunity to review and give their feedback. Having to show up in-person to the Judge Executive's office to file an open records request is an unnecessary barrier which prevents the working public from easily keeping informed on important actions by our local government.
